IUP's twelfth Legislative Fellow, state Representative Gary Haluska, of the seventy-third Legislative District, visited campus April 1, 2010.

His full day of activities included serving as a guest speaker in Dr. Susan Martin's American Politics class.

A member of the State Hardwoods Development Council, a Senate-House task force on forestry issues, and the Timber Caucus, Haluska also met with Jerry Pickering of the Allegheny Arboretum board of directors and Steve Loar, director of the Center for Turning and Furniture Design.

Each year, a committee of faculty members and administrators selects a Legislative Fellow from among Pennsylvania legislators based on his or her demonstrated record of leadership in state government and local community.
