The History Club is sponsoring a dinner in honor of a former student killed in action in Iraq.
The dinner, in memory of Eric Slebodnik, is Friday, April 16, 2010, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the lower level social hall of Zion Lutheran Church, 100 South Sixth Street, Indiana. A choice of vegetarian or chicken entrée will be offered.
Cost is $12 per person. All proceeds benefit the Eric Slebodnik Memorial Scholarship for History.
Specialist Slebodnik was one of five Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers killed in a roadside bombing near Ramadi, Iraq, on September 28, 2005. He was twenty-one at the time.
When Slebodnik was deployed, he was a junior History major with a minor in Political Science. While a student at IUP, he was a student caller for the IUP annual giving program. Slebodnik's family lives in Carbondale.
Tickets for the dinner are on sale in the History Department office, Keith Hall, Room 205, or can be reserved by contacting Shane Penn, History Club president, by e-mail at pncp@iup.edu.
