The IUP Symphony rehearsing on the stage of Fisher AuditoriumThe IUP Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, will present a special performance titled “Cosmic Voyage,” featuring selections from Gustav Holst’s iconic orchestral suite The Planets on Sunday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.

The concert will be conducted by IUP faculty member Rebekah O’Brien, bringing together talented student musicians and professional performers from across the region for a powerful musical experience.

Holst’s The Planets is one of the most beloved works in the orchestral repertoire, celebrated for its vivid musical portrayals of the astrological characteristics of each planet. Audiences can expect an engaging program highlighting several of the suite’s most dynamic and evocative movements, showcasing the full range and depth of the combined ensembles.

“This collaboration offers a unique opportunity for our students to perform alongside professional musicians while presenting one of the most exciting works ever written for orchestra,” said O’Brien. “We are thrilled to share this experience with our community.”

This concert will take place on Sunday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Tickets may be purchased online or by phone through the Lively Arts Office at 724-357-2787, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Remaining tickets may be purchased at the door one hour prior to each performance.

This production is presented by the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs and is funded, in part, by the IUP Student Cooperative Association. The Lively Arts, a program of the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs, presents nearly 150 performances, programs, and exhibits annually.
