Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Music Theater is proud to announce its upcoming production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro). This beloved opera buffa, filled with wit, romance, and social intrigue, will be sung mostly in English with English dialogue featuring a contemporary twist. The production runs November 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium. The runtime is two hours.

The Marriage of Figaro follows a single day of chaos in the household of Count Almaviva as his clever servants, Figaro and Susanna, plot to outsmart the Count and ensure their happiness. Mozart’s sparkling score and Lorenzo Da Ponte’s sharp libretto create an evening of humor, heart, and humanity that has enchanted audiences for over two centuries.

Oliver Lo is serving as the production’s stage director and conductor, with Evan Engelstad and Sabin Fisher serving as the pianist/repetiteur. “The Marriage of Figaro has brought joy, laughter, and warmth to our world for many years and is considered to be one of the best rom-com operas,” said Lo. “IUP Music Theater will take a fresh look at it, with contemporary English dialogue that connects the characters and the story to our audience.”
