Adam Katchmarchi (PhD) is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

As part of his role at IUP, Katchmarchi teaches courses offered by the KHSS department and oversees the operations of Lepley Natatorium, located in Zink Hall. Katchmarchi is also executive director of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. Katchmarchi holds provider, instructor, and trainer certifications from multiple organizations, including the American Red Cross Instructor Trainer Certification in Lifeguarding and Water Safety; the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance's professional pool and spa operator instructor certification, and certified pool operator instructor certification. He is also an instructor for the Certified Aquatic Director/Manager Course through Starfish Aquatics Institute. Katchmarchi is a licensed teacher in the state of Pennsylvania for grades K-12 in health and physical education. He is also a licensed emergency medical technician (EMT-B) by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Katchmarchi carries a very active research agenda, all surrounding his passion for aquatics. His research interests focus on aquatic education, swimming and water safety, drowning prevention education, lifeguard training, and sport facility risk management.
