Students at Purchase Line Junior/Senior High School stepped back in time during the school’s Celebrate America250! Fair. Representing Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Erin Conlin (Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies) hosted a booth that invited students to take home a pocket-sized US Constitution and participate in an American history timeline game.

The activity was a fun way to challenge participants to place major historical events in chronological order using their prior knowledge, game piece context clues...and occasionally “phoning a friend” to get help!

She also spoke with interested students about academic pathways in history and political science at IUP. Conlin’s interactive booth exemplified the fair’s mission: to inspire patriotic enthusiasm and have fun with history.

The Celebrate America250! Fair, held from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., featured local organizations sharing resources on regional history, summer opportunities, and civic involvement. Students also had the opportunity to explore Pennsylvania’s America250! truck, which arrived later in the day, to further promote interest in the upcoming national semiquincentennial celebration.
