We are so excited that you will be living with us for the 2023–24 academic year! We just wanted to take a quick minute to let you know of some important dates and information for the coming year.
Move-In Fall 2023
At the beginning of July, students can log in to their MyIUP account and sign up for a date and time to move in for the fall semester based on whether they are a new first-year/transfer student or if they are a continuing student. Keep an eye on your email or one of our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) for more information.
- New first-year students move in the weekend of August 19–20 so that they can participate in Welcome Week.
- Continuing students move in the weekend of August 26–27.
- Early/Late Arrivals: If you cannot make one of the assigned dates or if you are assisting various university activities/clubs/organizations, then you can sign up for an Early or Late arrival timeslot.
Reach out to your new roommate—get to know them!
Talking to your roommate or suitemate before you start to live together is a great first step to making your transition to living on campus a good one. Here is how to view your room assignment and roommate:
- Log in to your MyIUP account
- Choose Campus Services
- Choose Housing Services
- Once you are in the housing portal, choose Sign up for housing and dining
- Click Continue
- Scroll down to see your room, roommate’s name(s), and email address(s)
The information we provide about your roommate is IUP directory information and uses the student’s IUP email address. If you have not checked your IUP email in a while, it may be time to!
Items Not to bring to campus
We have a few prohibited items that students are not permitted to have in their residence hall rooms. Some of the appliances on this list might surprise you! Usually, an item becomes prohibited because of its ability to cause a fire.
- air fryer
- toaster and toaster oven
- smokeless grill, George Foreman grill, or other similar appliances
- electric potpourri/candle/fragrance burner/pot
- electric space heater
- electric skillet and hot plates
- fog machine
- weapons including kitchen knives exceeding 4” in length
- rice cooker and crock pots

Important Housing Dates through October 1, 2023
- July 3, 2023: Fall check-in sign-ups open in the afternoon (the first bill for Fall is also available).
- July 31, 2023: Last day to change your room assignment yourself (Note: if you change your room assignment after July 1, make sure to check your IUP bill for an updated statement the following day.)
- August 19–20, 2023: New student check-in (first-year and transfer)
- August 26–27, 2023: Continuing student move-in
- August 28, 2023: First day of classes
- September 1, 2023: Last day to change your meal plan for fall 2023
- September 11–29, 2023: Open room change
- October 1, 2023: Fall and Thanksgiving break housing sign-up open
