Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the IUP Haven Project is working to bring awareness to campus through tabling, displays, and presentations. Statistics like below help to identify issues around domestic and dating violence:
- 57 percent of college students say dating abuse is difficult to identify.
- 58 percent say they don't know how to help someone experiencing dating abuse.
- Over half (57 percent) of college students who self-reported said the dating violence and abuse occurred in college.

Silent Witness Display
A Silent Witness is a silhouette with the true story of an adult or child that was killed by domestic violence. Many people die each year in acts of domestic violence in the United States. Each person has a story.*

The Silent Witness Display will spend several days in each lobby of the open residence halls throughout the month. We encourage people to read the stories and visit the accompanying table for resources and more information.
