The Department of Finance and Economics wishes to congratulate James Jozefowicz for being voted the Eberly College of Business’s “Best Instructor of the Semester” for spring 2025. The award recipient is selected on the basis of current student voting.

Eberly Assistant Dean Jacqueline Saslawski and James Jozefowicz
Jozefowicz regularly teaches Principles of Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Introduction to Econometrics, and Advanced Econometrics, so his undergraduate students range from freshmen to seniors. This semester, under his direct supervision, 12 students participated in the IUP Scholars Forum, and two students presented their work at the Pennsylvania Sports Business Conference. Two of these students will also present their research at the upcoming Pennsylvania Economic Association Annual Conference, to be held at Penn State, Berks in Reading, PA at the end of May.
Upon receiving the Eberly Best Instructor of the Semester Award from Eberly Assistant Dean Jacqueline Saslawski, Jozefowicz expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with outstanding students in his economics courses. He noted, “When teaching works like it should, it’s all about what the students are contributing, and it has little to do with who’s in the front of the classroom. My role is like that of a conductor.”
Other teaching-related accolades for Jozefowicz include the IUP University Senate Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching in 2005 and being one of only 14 economics professors selected for inclusion in the Best 300 Professors guidebook published by the Princeton Review in 2012. In addition, Jozefowicz was the corecipient of the 2020 IUP Award of Excellence in Volunteer Leadership for Advancement Support in recognition of his work with the Leadership Society Advancement Council as part of the IUP Imagine Unlimited Campaign.
