The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for 9:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, through noon Tuesday, January 20. Wind chill temperatures may reach -17°F.

Members of the IUP community are encouraged to take the following precautions:

  • Dress in warm layers, including hats, gloves, and insulated footwear.
  • Limit time spent outdoors when possible.
  • Cover exposed skin to prevent frostbite.
  • Be alert for signs of cold-related illness such as numbness, shivering, or confusion; seek medical attention if you experience these symptoms.
  • Allow extra time for travel and use caution on sidewalks and roadways.
  • Please keep windows closed in the residence halls to avoid frozen pipes.
