Mark your calendar and come join us for CAE Forum! CAE Forum is a live, real-time, online, academic forum where members of the CAE community give non-technical presentations on topics of value to the CAE community.

CAE Forum is about sharing your ideas, knowledge, and expertise to empower and strengthen our community. It's that simple. CAE Forum presentations are normally held on the third Wednesday of each month during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Description: The Resilience Series uses the graphic novel format to communicate the dangers and risks associated with dis- and misinformation through fictional stories that are inspired by real-world events. The graphic novel format serves as an approachable, innovative educational tool that balances factual information and entertainment. The series is a unique approach to reach an audience that is less likely to see other government materials such as public service announcements.

Topic: Secure Data Acquisition and Remote Control in Wireless Sensor Networks

Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Time: 2:00-2:50 p.m. EST

Location: Zoom Meeting
Just log in as "Guest" and enter your name; no password required.

Audience: Students, professors, government

Presenter(s): Trey Burks and Dr. Denis Ulybyshev, Tennessee Technological University

Description: We will discuss a methodology for secure sensor data collection and remote control in Wireless Sensor Networks, using MQTT and OPC UA communication protocols and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. We will also present an extra data protection mechanism, based on noise data traffic injection, aiming to obfuscate the timing of sensor data packets and add confusion about which data packet represents which sensor.
