Gwen Torges, executive team member of the Center for Civic Dialogue, was featured on Renda Broadcasting’s Indiana in the Morning on October 30 to talk about the Center for Civic Dialogue’s Inaugural Distinguished Speaker, Jeffrey Rosen.
Rosen, a national constitutional scholar, will speak at IUP on November 9.
Rosen’s public lecture and discussion, “Can We Still Talk? The Constitution, Disagreement, and Our Shared Future: An Evening with Jeffrey Rosen,” is free and open to the community. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. in Jane E. Leonard Hall, room 225, on IUP’s Indiana campus.
The kickoff event for the Center for Civic Dialogue, the program will explore the Constitution as an ongoing conversation—and the role individuals play in keeping that conversation thoughtful, informed, and open to different perspectives. The program will include conversations about the freedoms that allow people to disagree, including the protection of speech that some find offensive.
The Center for Civic Dialogue, established in January 2026, serves as both physical and intellectual headquarters for civil discourse innovation at IUP. Rosen’s selection as the Inaugural Distinguished Speaker reflects the Center’s commitment to helping people engage across differences and participate thoughtfully in democracy.
