Art and Design faculty members Sharon Massey and Sean Derry presented “Faculty/Student Collaboration + Civic Engagement to Advance Digital Literacy” at the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE) conference in Denver, Colorado, on April 15, 2023, on a panel called “Radical Pivots,” about shifts that occurred in teaching after 2020.
Massey and Derry’s radical pivot resulted in a new curriculum with a focus on design, technology, and civic engagement they call Local X Change, which includes their 100-level course 3D Design and Digital Fabrication. The course is open to IUP students in all majors and satisfies a liberal studies Fine Art requirement.
