Procedures for equipment moves and surplus

If computer equipment needs to be moved for any of the following reasons:

• Office moves
• Office renovations
• New furniture

Please submit a request for assistance via ihelp. IT Services will handle disconnecting and re-connecting the equipment. Facilities is responsible for moving the equipment as well as office furniture. 

Include the following details in your ihelp request:

• Current location of equipment
• Location equipment is being moved to
• Network jacks the machine is currently connected to
• Network jacks the machine will be reconnected to
  • In the event that network services need to be moved or a new service enabled, please include a cost center for appropriate networking charges.
• Date of the move and if Facilities has been contacted regarding the move or renovation.

Please inform IT Services of the move as soon as possible. The more time we have to schedule the move, the better service and support we can provide.

When your office or department has computer equipment that needs to be surplused, please create a new ticket in ihelp.

Examples of equipment that can be surplused: 

• Computers, Laptops
• Monitors
• Printers
• Keyboards, Mice
• Tablets

Someone from the IT Support Center will contact you to assist in completing the required forms and to identify any items that can be repurposed, such as computer memory or hard drives.
