Political Science: Key to Homeland Security Careers

As a political science major in the Homeland Security Track, you'll learn from political science professors with expertise in this field and other related areas.

They'll teach you skills for evaluating and developing policies that are designed to strengthen homeland defense and improve emergency management.

This unique major combines classes in homeland security and emergency management with broader political courses.

You'll also take classes in other areas you choose, such as communications, cybersecurity, geography, and public health, giving you a strong foundation and multiple career options.

The heavy focus on public policy and administration enables you to join the many working in government and related industries to devise strategies for homeland security before a disaster occurs.

The Political Science Department works together with the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department and other departments around campus to support students who want to double-major or minor in related fields. Sometimes your classes can count for both.
