Constable Training Soon to Be Offered

Thanks to a recent grant, IUP’s Criminal Justice Training Center will offer an Act 44 Constable Training course this fall.

The grant, for $2.7 million, enables Act 44 Constable Training for two districts in Pennsylvania. This competitive contract is from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

IUP’s award reflects an increase in funding of $1,330,999 from the previous year.

The center is part of the university’s Criminology Department and the College of Health and Human Services. It offers noncredit training programs for police recruits and law enforcement personnel.

“Director Roger White is to be commended for securing this competitive grant for IUP,” said Carleen Zoni, dean of the College of Health and Human Services. “Not only was he successful in securing this funding, but he has also ensured that IUP will have the right to bid on this project for the next four years.”
