Biology Graduate Students Receive Research Grant Awards

Three graduate students in the Master’s of Science in Biology program received research grant awards from the IUP School of Graduate School and Research.

The awards were:

  • $373 to Erica Meyers to study “Identification of the Floal Scent Compounds Emitted by Symplocarpus foetidus.” Erica is supervised by Dr. Sandy Newell.
  • $992 to Mickey Moffe to study “Influence of Metal Concentrations, Percent Salinity and Length of Exposure on the Metabolic Rate of Golden Shiners.” Mickey is supervised by Dr. David Pistole.
  • $1,000 to Lauren Wheatall to study “The Effects of White-tailed Deer Browing on Insect Diversity in the Allegheny Hardwood Forests.” Lauren is supervised by Dr. Tim Nuttle.
