Three years ago, IUP began the journey of addressing food insecurity and insufficiency. Faculty, staff, students, student organizations, and an alumnus of IUP worked to help alleviate the stress students experience surrounding food.
In 2018, Each One Reach One, a program under the Frederick
Douglass Institute for Intercultural Research, offered three pop-up pantry events in the Great Room of Elkin Hall, serving over 200 students. Consequently, all the hard work has paid off. On Friday, September 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., we invite
the IUP community to stop by the soft opening for the IUP Food Pantry and Help Center located in Suites on Pratt G-12. Students will
be able to access the IUP Food Pantry and Help Center officially starting Monday, September 16 23, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for its formal opening.
The planning committee invites you to be an active participant in serving our students by donating to the pantry. During the opening, there will be three collection bins: non-perishable food items, umbrellas, and school supplies. Let’s come together and
collect enough items to help reduce the stress that students experience while here at IUP.
