Mathematics Graduate Students Shine at Scholars Forum

Kevin Powell, Sean Rhodes, and Cassandra Pray, all students in the MS in Applied Mathematics program, won awards for their research at the 2019 IUP Scholars Forum.

Powell and Rhodes received the Dean’s Award for the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics for “Improving ARMIA Time-Series Forecasting of Stock Prices with Extra-Model Financial Data from SEC Filings.” This research project was completed for the Topics in Applied Computational Mathematics class taught by Yu-Ju Kuo. 

Powell, Rhodes, and Pray received the Sigma Xi First Place Poster Award for “Discrete Event Simulation of Hospital Patient Flow Using Arena Simulation Software.” This research project was completed for the Advanced Simulation course taught by Rick Adkins.
