IUP Punxsutawney and Northpointe Regional Campus students in Professor Holly Travis’s Biology 115 class traveled to Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center in Ford City, Pennsylvania on April 24, 2018.
The assignment was to do a microhabitat biodiversity assessment. Students broke into groups, chose different sites, identified and counted everything in their one-mile square plots, then calculated the biodiversity index. Groups competed to find the most
organisms and the most biodiversity in the plots they selected.
