Mini-THON begins at 11:00 a.m. and will have 12 hours of board games, video games, arts and crafts, a velcro wall, food, and music. A corn hole tournament will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Olympic games will be from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Bingo will take place at 5:00 p.m.
Donations will be collected for Four Diamonds, a charity for childhood cancer patients and their families.
Mini-THON at IUP was started two years ago by a group of students who had participated in the event in high school and wanted to bring it to their college campus. Michelle Lengel, president of Mini-THON at IUP, led the group from the beginning because
of her personal journey with cancer.
“Three years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When I got to IUP, I made it one of my goals to spread the message of Mini-THON so families would never have to go through what my family went through,” said Lengel.
Lengel is two and a half years into remission. She is a junior double major in international studies/political science and history.
Last year’s event raised over $3,600 for Four Diamonds.
