Bethany Orr, Angela Kellar, and Michael HoodIn a joint release from Park Inn by Radisson Indiana and the Lively Arts at IUP, it was announced today that the Park Inn will be the presenting sponsor as the Lively Arts brings the Broadway tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella to Indiana.

The engagement will be part of the 2016–17 Ovations! season, Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s premier performance series that includes touring artists and productions from around the globe.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical from the creators of The Sound of Music and South Pacific. The production will feature a professional touring company direct from Broadway in a show that features classic scenes from the original musical with some surprising new twists. The show is filled with such favorites as “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and more.

“We are thrilled to be a part of bringing this incredible musical performance to IUP Lively Arts. It’s important to us that we’re involved in our community; and that, as an Indiana business, we support the outstanding programs offered by IUP,” said Angela Kellar, general manager at Park Inn by Radisson Indiana.

Michael Hood, dean of Fine Arts at IUP, is equally thrilled. “Center stage in our mission of providing the highest caliber performances and outreach is to make them affordable and available to the community and our students. Park Inn has been an engaged partner in our work, this year providing a precedent-setting level of support and generosity that truly raises the bar. To quote an Oscar Hammerstein lyric, we are so proud to have them ‘in our own little corner’ in such a big way.”

The one-time performance will be presented on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of the IUP Performing Arts Center. Subscriptions will be available soon with information available on the Lively Arts’ website. Order forms will be available by early July, with single tickets for Cinderella going on sale in September.

To be placed on the mailing lists, call the Lively Arts at 724-357-2787 (ARTS) or e-mail lively-arts@iup.edu.

In conjunction with the production, Park Inn by Radisson Indiana is planning a special Cinderella Ball event to celebrate the coming of the treasured musical to Indiana. The Cinderella Ball is slated for Sunday, October 9, the Sunday prior to the performance. Details will be available later through Park Inn by Radisson Indiana.
