IUP’s Cook Honors College welcomed visiting Tibetan monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery to a dinner in Whitmyre's Great Hall last Wednesday. All ten monks enjoyed a meal together with 50 students and faculty guests from around campus. The monks and students spent time after dinner sharing questions and stories.
The monks visiting campus were part of the “Mystical Arts of Tibet” tour. The tour gives the monks an opportunity to travel abroad, all the while creating and discussing sacred art and spirituality. The tour also hopes to increase awareness of conflict in Tibet.
The Cook Honors College worked in collaboration with the IUP Religious Studies Department, the Asian Studies Committee, the Committee for the Study of Culture and Religion, and other groups on campus to welcome and involve the monks during their stay.
