Nurhaya Muchtar, associate professor in the Department of Communications Media, will co-lead the ninth annual Indonesia Focus Conference at Ohio State University, October 23–24, 2015.
The Indonesia Focus
Conference provides a venue for interdisciplinary research related to
Indonesia and aims to identify challenges Indonesia faces. The annual
conference is hosted by different U.S. universities and includes presenters
from the U.S. and Indonesia as well as other Asian and European countries.
This year, Muchtar will be accompanied by two students
from IUP’s Department of English, Arifah Mardiningrum and Rudi Hartono. The
conference is intended to motivate scholars in the study of Indonesia, to help
increase the rate of scholarship and publication related to Indonesia, and to
encourage networking among Indonesian and American scholars.
IUP professor Kustim Wibowo from the Department of Information Systems and
Decision Sciences founded the Indonesia
Focus Conference, which is supported by the Indonesian Consular Office of
Chicago and the Indonesian Embassy. The conference
is being held in collaboration with OSU’s Department of Teaching and Learning
and an organization Muchtar chairs, the Asian Society of International
Relations and Public Affairs.
