Machado Receives Peer-Mentoring Grant

Crystal Machado, from the Department of Professional Studies in Education, was awarded $5,000 for a project titled “Creating a Climate of Peer-Mentoring, Pedagogical Exploration, and Scholarship at IUP.”

This project will provide faculty with access two workshops led by Carol Mullen, professor of Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. Mullen has expertise with fostering a social justice vision of leadership, mentoring and self-regulated learning, and the effective use of resources to propel as well as reward excellence. She has contributed greatly to the field of mentoring through her service as editor of the Mentoring Journal. Her authorships encompass more than 200 refereed journal articles and book chapters, 18 special issues of journals, and 20 books. She was co-founder of the National Association of Professors in Education (NCPEA) mentoring program.

She will be conducting two workshops for faculty during her visit.
