MARTI is proud to announce that research associate and assistant professor in
Sociology Michelle Sandhoff has been appointed as coordinator for the
Veteran Reintegration Research Cluster.
Sandhoff will assume the role as coordinator for the 2015–16
academic calendar year and will take over the position from Christian
Vaccaro, who helped to organize the research cluster and has served as
coordinator since its inception in 2013.
“I have full confidence in Dr.
Sandhoff’s capabilities, and think she is an excellent choice for the
cluster,” Vaccaro said of Sandhoff’s
appointment. “I plan to support her efforts for continuing the mission of the
research cluster and MARTI to the greatest extent possible.”
Veterans Reintegration Research Cluster at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania is an interdisciplinary team of expert faculty dedicated to
collaboration on topics of mutual interest related to veteran reintegration.
The focus of the cluster’s research is on the role of institutions and
organizations for OEF/OIF veterans’ successful or problematic return to
civilian life. Its research aims to provide innovative insights for
therapeutic and preventive interventions that will lead to a reduction in a
variety of reintegration problems such as college dropout, unemployment,
homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, divorce, and mental health
