Linda Hall, who retired from the faculty in the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education in 2012, was granted emeritus status by the IUP Council of Trustees in March 2014.

Emeritus status is an honor conferred by the university to acknowledge a distinguished career. Hall’s 30-year career at IUP was indeed distinguished. She began in 1982 as director of Housing and Residence Life. In 1986, she was promoted to assistant vice president for Student Affairs, followed by her appointment as director of IUP’s Center for Business Services and Card Administration in 1994.

In 1997, Hall joined the SAHE faculty as associate professor, and she was elected to department chairperson in 2008. She earned her doctorate in education in the Department of Professional Studies in Education.

To receive emeritus status, a candidate must first be approved by their department, the college dean, and the provost of the university. A recommendation is then forwarded to the university senate for approval before moving on to the Council of Trustees for final approval.

Hall joins Ron Lunardini and Ron Thomas as retired SAHE faculty members who have been granted emeritus status.
