Several Biology faculty members took home individual honors in recognition of their research during IUP’s 2014 Research Week.
Shundong Bi was awarded the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Outstanding Researcher Award for 2014. Bi’s research centers on the morphology, systematics, and functional anatomy of mammals. His current projects focus on the origin and early evolution of mammals. Read more about his study recently published in Nature.
Megan Knoch was awarded the IUP Research Institute New Investigator Award for her work with an interdisciplinary team to submit a successfully funded MSF-MRI grant to establish a state-of-the-art microscopy and image analysis facility.
Jeffery Larkin won the Sponsored Programs Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research for 2014. Larkin’s research focuses on understanding the ecology of threatened species or small populations. Specifically, it provides important insights into the effects of humans and our infrastructure on the sustainability or restoration of ecologically important wildlife species and their habitats.
