Christine Black, professor in the Health and Physical Education Department, was the guest speaker for the 19th annual YWCA Westmoreland County Sportswomen of the Year banquet, held at the Greensburg Ramada and Conference Center in Greensburg, Pa.
The YWCA is one of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls, and their families. For more than 150 years, the YWCA has spoken out and taken action on behalf of women and girls. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Black has twice received the Faculty ROSE Award (for recognition of superior effort), and also has been honored by former IUP president Lawrence Pettit as “one of the outstanding instructors whose extra effort and concern for students has made a difference.” This provides testimony for the fact that she positively impacts the lives of her students.
