Third Annual Graduate Scholars Forum: Call for Proposals

Posted on 2/6/2013 9:15:47 AM

The Graduate Scholars Forum is designed to foster scholarship and collegiality among graduate students and faculty, and to provide a forum for graduate students to discuss their academic work with a community of scholars.

Students currently enrolled in any graduate program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania or who completed a graduate degree in December 2012 are eligible to submit a proposal to present recently completed or ongoing research or creative works. Research done in collaboration with faculty, other students, or practicing professionals is eligible as long as the student has played a substantial role in the activity.

Abstracts must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013.

Student submissions are accepted in these formats:

  • Oral Paper Presentation: Each paper presentation may be 20 minutes in length, including time for questions. This paper format is ideal for work that is in more advanced stages of completion since it allows for the presentation of a research or creative project with research results, if available.
    • Please Note: There are time limits for oral presentations, and oral presentations will be accepted on a competitive basis. If your oral presentation is not accepted, you will be required to display a poster presentation instead.
  • Poster Presentation: Students display their research on a tri-fold poster from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and discuss their work with visitors during a three-hour midday discussion period reserved for the poster display.
  • Performance/Exhibit: Undergraduate students may participate in the conference with visual art installations, literary readings, or performances. Performances/presentations may be 20 minutes in length, including questions.
