Student Youngs Wins Scholarship to Attend International Trumpet Guild Conference

Marisa Youngs, a junior Music Education major from Cochranton, Pa., has been awarded a scholarship to attend the 2012 International Trumpet Guild conference, which is being held in Columbus, Ga., on May 22–26, 2012.

Interested students were required to submit recordings of required pieces of music in order to be considered for scholarships.

This is the second year that Youngs has been awarded a scholarship to attend an International Trumpet Guild conference. Each scholarship has a value of approximately $450.

Among the artists schedule to perform at the 2012 ITG conference are jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, Italian trumpet artists Andrea Giuffredi and Andrea Tofanelli, Tom Hooten (principal trumpeter with the Atlanta Symphony), Chris Martin (principal trumpeter with the Chicago Symphony), Russian trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov, and jazz legend Marvin Stamm.
