Lloyd Onyett, assistant dean for Technology for the College of Education and Educational Technology, has been invited to give a presentation at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE&C) in Hershey, Pa., on February 15, 2012. The presentation is entitled “Performing Qualitative Research Using NVivo.”
Onyett will demonstrate the use of NVivo software to assist with qualitative research. NVivo can save many hours and assist in finding trends and coding information in a mountain of qualitative data. Not only will he demonstrate many of the features of the NVivo software, but he will also show how he used NVivo to develop his doctoral dissertation, and will give numerous tips for performing qualitative research.
Onyett has given similar NVivo sessions to many of the doctoral program students at IUP over the past two years. All IUP employees and students can download and install the NVivo software at no charge because of a universitywide software license.
The PETE&C conference is a statewide event that provides quality programs focused on technology in the educational field. The four-day conference is held in Hershey every February and consists of concurrent sessions, poster sessions, student showcases, and vendor exhibits. Approximately 3,000 educators from higher education and K-12 schools throughout Pennsylvania and neighboring states attend the conference each year.
