Lively Arts logo

Below are the services that the Lively Arts can provide for events presented by the College of Fine Arts and its departments. For calendar posts, see the legend below.

The Lively Arts Mark

The Lively Arts mark (at right), in addition to the IUP logo and branding elements, is required to be used for all printed and visually electronic materials that are associated with events in the College of Fine Arts, including concerts, plays, and exhibits.

The details on how to use this properly have been provided to Fine Arts chairpersons and the key event personnel in each department. If you need to use this mark, please contact them or Kristen Koehler (kristen.koehler@iup.edu) for the appropriate files and procedures.

Please understand that the services we can provide are subject to receiving information accurately and in a timely manner.

Specific Information

The above activities are services that will be produced/provided/generated by the Lively Arts staff. We will work to remind producing groups of the need to provide us with appropriate information. Please be aware that failure to provide that information by the requested deadline will jeopardize proper coverage of that event, sometimes resulting in very minimal to no exposure.

News Releases and News Posts

  • As requested: The Lively Arts will remind you approximately four weeks in advance to submit information for a press release, which we will generate. This will be for major series and exhibit events. Reminders will not generally be sent, so please follow-up as requested.
  • News posts for non-series events such as music events not part of Sound Choices, regular Acorn productions, thesis exhibits, etc. will not be sent to the media. Exceptions may be made on occasion if the event/project warrants coverage that rises to the level of interest at or above the level of regular series events.
  • The Lively Arts will determine appropriate distribution. News posts regarding professional activity and accomplishments should be submitted directly to your department. For details and links, see the detailed instructions.

Calendar Information and Legend

The Lively Arts online calendar is the only officially recognized calendar for events within the College of Fine Arts and its departments. All CFA events listed on this calendar are sent to over 75 regional media and related sources (campus, municipal offices, etc.) if received by the fifth of each month by the Lively Arts. Please submit calendar items and any changes or updates by e-mailing events-livelyarts@iup.edu.

Posters and Flyers

Although our office will not be doing a flyer or poster for all events, we can distribute them on campus for you if you provide the copies and ample time to post (recommend at least 14 days prior to event/opening). We will need 50-75 to post in campus office/classroom buildings, and an additional 100 if you wish us to provide to the residence halls. If you wish to have us distribute them, please call 724-357-2787 or e-mail Calendar Events at events-livelyarts@iup.edu.

Where Does It All Go?

News Posts

  • All IUP employees (1,500+)
  • All Lively Arts Facebook and Twitter followers (4,500+)
  • Some are also included in The Beak, IUP Facebook, IUP Twitter, and other social media sources and aggregators.

News Releases

  • Local newspapers (Indiana, Blairsville, Punxsutawney, and often beyond)
  • Local radio and television news

Posters/Flyers

  • Over 150 on-campus locations and local businesses

e-Letter Blasts

  • Over 2,200 contacts wishing additional information on the Lively Arts events sent every two to three weeks

On-Campus E-mail Blasts

Except possibly one at the beginning of the year and in an extreme emergency-provoked basis, we do not send e-mail blasts to employees; and we discourage anyone in doing this. Most recipients find this an intrusion into their workday, and studies indicate hat it gives the majority of people a negative image of the sending organization. If you chose to do an e-mail blast, we recommend that you keep it highly relevant to all recipients, or at least the vast majority.
