IUP's 21-credit interdisciplinary pre-law and business minor introduces Eberly students to the legal theory and practical skills necessary to succeed in today's increasingly complex legal and regulatory business environment, and also helps Eberly students considering a legal career to achieve success in law school.

Employers increasingly seek to hire Eberly graduates with legal knowledge and practical skills for jobs in such diverse fields as accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, energy, intellectual property, and international business. This pre-law and business minor provides students with a solid foundation in the legal theory and practical legal skills sought by those employers, and differentiates students obtaining the pre-law and business minor from other candidates for those jobs.

For Eberly students considering law school, thepre-law and business minor introduces students to the analytical reasoning, legal research and writing, rhetorical, and creative problem-solving skills they will need to succeed on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and thereafter in law school.

IUP offers a wealth of law-related courses, including Legal Environment of Business, Case Studies in Business Law, Business Negotiations, Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Criminal Law, Persuasive Speech and Writing, Public Speaking, Reasoning and the Law, Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties, Modern Political Thought, and Philosophy of Law.
