Chemistry Minor

The minor in chemistry is designed for students who desire a background in chemistry, in conjunction with degrees such as biology, pre-medical, environmental science, health sciences, geology, business, or one of the social sciences. A minor in chemistry signifies a broader understanding of scientific knowledge, processes, and critical thinking that is sought by employers.

The minor consists of 19 credit hours of introductory and upper-level courses.

Required Credits: 19

  • CHEM 111, General Chemistry I (4cr)
  • CHEM 112, General Chemistry II (4cr)
  • CHEM 231, Organic Chemistry I (4cr)
  • At least seven credits from the following: CHEM 314, 332, or any CHEM or BIOC course(s) at the 300 level or above (7cr)

Interested in the Chemistry Minor?  Although you can apply anytime before the semester prior to graduation, it is best to apply early so that an advisor can be assigned to guide you through the course selection process. The completed form can be submitted to the Madia Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics and Engineering in room 143 Weyandt Hall.

Have the Chemistry Minor Complete? After completing the required coursework, complete the Chemistry Minor Verification Form, getting your major advisors signature before subbmitting the form to the Madia Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics and Engineering in room 143 Weyandt Hall.
