The IUP Community Music School’s Crimson Youth Choir has been invited to perform at International Unity Day 2018, which will be held on Saturday, April 7, at the upper level of the Hadley Union Building.
The choir will perform a popular gospel favorite, “Praise His Holy Name” by Keith Hampton, who is the founder and artistic director of the Chicago Community Chorus, a vocal and instrumental instructor at the Chicago International Charter School, and president of Dr. KT Productions, Inc. Written in 1993, “Praise His Holy Name” has been one of the most popular gospel standards of the last 25 years.
The Crimson Youth Choir is led by Kye-Won Kopko, a music teacher with over 15 years’ experience in the Virginia public school system, and currently a graduate student in music studying choral conducting with Ryan Beeken, director of Choral Studies at IUP.
International Unity Day takes place from noon to 3:00 p.m. with food and kids’ room available from noon to 1:30 p.m. and entertainment beginning at 1:30 p.m. It is sponsored by the Office of International Education and the Student Co-op Association. The Crimson Youth Choir will perform as part of the entertainment, and admission for the entire event is free.
