Christine Baker published a chapter titled "The Lost Origins of the Daylamites: the Construction of a New Ethnic Legacy for the Buyids" in The Routledge Handbook of Identity and the Environment in the Classical and Medieval Worlds.

Baker’s chapter discusses how 10th-century Iranian rulers blended different types of Persian/Iranian heritage with newly emerging Muslim identities. These blended identities reveal the flexible nature of medieval identity and how conversion to Islam affected these constructions of ethnicity.
