On Wednesday, October 23, Carl Luciano of the IUP Department of Biology will present an information session on the planned Summer 2014 study abroad travel class in southern Africa.
As a part of International Education Week, this information session will consist of a short slide presentation, followed by an opportunity for Q&A. The information session will be held in Weyandt Hall, room 6, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who is interested in the study abroad travel (students, faculty, family, friends) is invited to attend.
The proposed study abroad travel class will include about three weeks in late July and early August 2014 (exact dates dependent on summer schedule and on availability of accommodations). We plan to visit national/provincial parks, wildlife reserves, and a private game ranch to learn about the biology as well as the business of wildlife in the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Swaziland. We will also give significant attention to the culture, history, and literature of the areas we visit.
Our proposed itinerary includes Johannesburg, Kruger National park, Hlane Royal National Park, and various sites in Limpopo Province. We also plan to visit the fynbos region around the Cape Peninsula along with cultural activities in and around Cape Town, South Africa’s “Mother City.”
Please contact Luciano at firstname.lastname@example.org or 724-357-2352 for more information, or see the course website.
