Rather than treat Spring Break as a vacation, Biology undergraduate and graduate students were busy attending meetings of professional societies and presenting their work.

During the first couple of days of the 2013 Spring Break, IUP Biology graduate student Stephanie Moon and Biology undergraduate and Cook Honors College student Wendy Leuenberger attended and presented their research findings at the American Entomological Society’s annual meeting in Lancaster, Pa. Both students’ presentations were very well attended, and Leuenberger was honored at the concluding banquet when she received the Best Student Presentation Award.

During the latter part of Spring Break, Leuenberger and Moon were joined by fellow IUP Biology graduate students Ethan Cullen, Amber Nolder, Emily Bellush, and Mack Frantz, who presented their research findings at the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Wildlife Society’s annual meeting in State College, Pa. Other IUP students and faculty in attendance included Rebecca Ferry, Chad Clair, Courtney Nicks, Justin Gross, Adam Mengel, Travis Ferry, and faculty members Jeff Larkin and Joe Duchamp. IUP again took top honors with Leuenberger’s repeat performance as Best Student Presentation.

According to Larkin, “All of our students were exceptional ambassadors for Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the conservation profession. It was an honor to have attended these meetings with such an enthusiastic and dedicated group of students.”

Congratulations to all of our IUP student presenters and conference attendees!
