Through IUP’s Dual Enrollment program, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics STEM
Academy will provide a selected set of courses in science and mathematics that
help prepare students for future studies in STEM fields.
The CNSM STEM Academy will include courses in the following three preparation areas:
Upon acceptance to the CNSM STEM Academy, students will be expected to complete four on-site courses (Indiana,
Northpointe, or Punxsutawney campuses) and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of a minimum of 12 CNSM
STEM Academy credits.
CNSM STEM Academy students will receive the discounted tuition rate for dual enrolled students: a 75 percent discount on tuition per credit. Additionally, a limited number of scholarships will be available to qualified CNSM STEM Academy students. Those scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit to students not eligible for tuition waivers.
This unique program also provides students access to free tutoring and opportunities to participate in related cocurricular activities. Participating students will also be assigned a faculty mentor.
completion of two STEM Academy classes with a 3.0 GPA, students will become
eligible to apply for participation in independent research projects under the supervision of CNSM
Students interested in applying to the CNSM STEM Academy must meet all requirements for participating in IUP’s Dual Enrollment program. Specifically, a student must be either a high school junior or senior in a participating school district with at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
In addition to the dual enrollment application and required documents, CNSM STEM Academy applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation from a science, mathematics, or technology teacher.
