What is Reflective Practice?

Reflective Practice is at the core of the Center for Teaching Excellence. Reflective Practice offers faculty meaningful opportunities to strengthen teaching and connect with colleagues. Each academic year, CTE’s Reflective Practice offers programming through Teaching Circles and professional development workshops where faculty exchange ideas, explore practical teaching strategies, reflect on their teaching experiences, and discover new approaches to enhance student learning.

Participation also provides an opportunity to earn Active and Active Plus status, offering a meaningful way to document your commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective teaching, and pedagogical growth.

This documented engagement can be highlighted in promotion and tenure materials and faculty dossiers, demonstrating a sustained commitment to teaching excellence. Whether you are seeking fresh inspiration, a supportive community, or a way to strengthen your professional record, Reflective Practice provides valuable opportunities to grow as an educator and showcase that growth.
