As dean of the College of Health and Human Services in the late 1980s, Hal Wingard was among those who led the establishment of the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts in Punxsutawney.
“It was a dream come true to prepare graduates to meet the
challenges in the culinary field with great skills, hardworking attitudes, and
a sense of accountability that serves their businesses well,” he said.
To honor that accomplishment, Wingard and his wife, Betty,
made a significant commitment to a new culinary facility.
“Because of the Wingards, we have taken a big step forward
to reach our goal of constructing a state-of-the-art instructional facility
that will house our world-class programs. The Wingards’ support enables us to
contribute more to the university and to the culinary field,” said Chef Lynn
Pike ’04, M’06, the academy’s director.
