Student Support and Community Standards Office Services

Specific Services Provided

  • Adjudicate alleged violations of university policies/procedures
  • Provide information and consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents as allowed by FERPA
  • Mediate conflicts between students and/or recognized student organizations, as possible
  • Respond to conduct record checks by outside agencies
  • Update the IUP Community Standards Policy

The student conduct process at IUP is designed to be non-adversarial, with the intent of promoting behavioral change in the student while protecting the rights of the members of the university community.

When responding to behavior that violates federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, the Office of Student Support and Community Standards does not replace the criminal justice system or other legal responses; rather, the office adjudicates alleged behaviors separately from any legal action that is taken. Students and recognized organizations that violate law and university policy should expect to be held accountable for their behavior through both the legal system and the university community standards process.

University policies and regulations are provided in the IUP Community Standards Policy. Individuals who desire a hard copy of the IUP Community Standards Policy should contact the Office of Student Support and Community Standards in Ruddock Hall, Suite G37.
