In addition to the standard software provided in the public computing labs, IUP provides an extensive library of academic software for home use. Below is a list of available software.

Faculty/Staff: Using an IUP issued machine?

Select software can be installed with one click on IUP issued machines using the Software Center. Look for a notice on the application's page. 


Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 is the latest office software suite from Microsoft. The software suite is now available to all enrolled students, staff, and faculty through the Microsoft campus agreement that IUP participates in. Your Office 365 subscription also includes several Office 365 applications.

Zoom

At IUP, Zoom is the supported online meeting tool. Zoom unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, group messaging, and a conference room solution in one easy-to-use platform.

Antivirus

If you have Windows 10 or above on your machine, we recommend that you turn on the built-in antivirus software Windows Defender. You also want to make sure Auto Updates are turned on.

If you do not have Windows 10 or above on your PC, or if you have a Mac, you can install Avast Essential Security.

Malwarebytes is an antivirus software that comprehensive real-time protection built in. If interested, Malwarebytes is only available for Windows machines and is available at a discounted rate for students.

IUP OnTheHUB

IUP OnTheHub is an area in which you can purchase and install software not found on the IUP website. Some of the software included is one copy of Windows 10 Education, Visual Studio 2017, and extensions for SPSS.

Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Azure is a service provided by Microsoft for students. Azure provides access to software like SQ: Server 2017 and Windows Server. Click Sign In after clicking on the link and enter your IUP Network Credentials to sign in.

EndNote

EndNote is full-featured research and writing tool that generates bibliographies in specified output styles, maintains references, assists with downloading references from electronic databases (e.g., Ovid, Proquest), and supports citing references while writing. This product can be installed on a PC or Mac.

Virtual Computer Lab (VCL)

Using VMWare, the Virtual Computer Lab provides remote access to a Windows desktop so you can access the software applications found on the PCs in the public computer labs as well as the standard desktop. This service is provided for all registered students, faculty, and staff members.

Mathematica

Mathematica by Wolfram Research is available to all faculty, staff, and registered students for academic-related activities at no additional cost.

NVivo

NVivo is a qualitative data analysis software package designed for researchers working with very rich text-based and/or multimedia information, where deep levels of analysis on small or large volumes of data are required. NVivo removes many of the manual tasks associated with analysis, like classifying, sorting, and arranging information, so you have more time to explore trends, test theories, and arrive at answers to questions.

SPSS

SPSS is available for purchase at a discounted rate via OnTheHub to employees and students.

jamovi

jamovi is an open source statistical analysis software used for research purposes. jamovi has replaced IBM SPSS as IUP's provided statistical analysis software package.

AutoDesk

This external link provides students with access to AutoDesk software.

Adobe Reader

Use this external link to download Adobe Reader to open and view PDF files.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Suite CC is a powerful set of software tools. The Creative Cloud can assist in areas such as web design, image editing, video editing, graphic and art design, desktop publishing, game development, animation, and much more. These applications are available to all IUP administration, staff, and faculty for installation on a personally owned computer.  Adobe Creative Cloud is installed on IUP-owned office computers.

Read&Write

The Department for Disability Access and Advising offers Read&Write literacy support software from Texthelp. Read&Write is available to all IUP students via their IUP Office 365 account.
