Colorful Conversations Virtual Series for High School Students

The college admissions process can feel overwhelming for parents and students, particularly first-generation and underrepresented college students.

The IUP Office of Admissions wants to help. Our Multicultural Recruiters are familiar with the unique challenges that first-generation and underrepresented college students face because they are first- and second-generation college graduates themselves. The team has over 30 years of experience helping students navigate the admissions process, and we are confident we can help you as well.

This spring, we are offering the Colorful Conversations series on Zoom. The pair of sessions will feature some of our diverse and unique alumni and current students discussing topics that are relevant to first-generation and underrepresented college students. These conversations will answer questions, highlight experiences, and build confidence. Use the link below to register for one or both sessions in the Series this April.

Café con Alumni - featuring Gabriel Del Valle

Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.

No one likes to leave their comfort zone, but that is precisely where success and glory are found. Alumnus Gabriel Del Valle left his comfort zone, a Latinx community in North Philadelphia, to attend IUP, and he is still reaping the benefits. IUP provided Gabe with the experiences, relationships, and skills necessary to find the career of his dreams. Join Gabriel and members of the Multicultural Student Recruitment Team as they drink coffee and discuss finding success at IUP. We will answer your questions and hopefully help you to see the value of attending IUP.

The Cost of Not Attending College

Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.

The cost of college attendance has become a popular topic in recent years. Students and parents are making tough decisions about whether a college degree offers enough value for the price tag. Should you attend a private, public, or community college? Maybe you should avoid college altogether. Join IUP alumni and members of the Multicultural Student Recruitment Team as they discuss the cost of not attending college. During this discussion, they will imagine their lives without an IUP education and talk about the doors their degree opened. If you are on the fence about attending college, you will not want to miss this conversation.
