Minor in Accounting

  • An accounting classroom at IUP usually has fewer than 30 students

    USING THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE: Students in this Federal Tax II class are using their IT skills to develop work papers documenting client stock transaction information for a tax audit scenario. They can also access online tax research through Stapleton Library and use professional tax software.

    Minor in Accounting

    The accounting minor adds a strong skill set to your qualifications. This minor is for business majors and students majoring in criminology, hospitality management, employment and labor relations, sports administration, fashion merchandising, economics, and computer science at IUP. 

     

    The minor in accounting requires completion of six ACCT courses (or 18 credit hours). In addition, the
    student must complete the following course requirements with an overall 2.0 QPA for a minor. The program is as follows:

    Required Courses: 12 credits

    • ACCT 201 Accounting Principles I
    • ACCT 202 Accounting Principles II
    • ACCT 304 Intermediate Accounting I
    • ACCT 305 Intermediate Accounting II

    Any two courses from the following: 6 credits

    • ACCT 303 Financial Systems Analysis
    • ACCT 311 Cost Accounting
    • ACCT 401 Advanced Accounting
    • ACCT 421 Federal Tax I
    • ACCT 422 Federal Tax II
    • ACCT 431 Auditing
    • ACCT 432 Forensic and Internal Auditing
