Invitation to New Faculty

  • Dear New IUP Faculty Member,

    Welcome to Indiana University of Pennsylvania!  IUP’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), supported by the Office of the Provost, offers New Faculty Orientation to welcome you to the IUP community. Knowing how busy you are, and will be, as you begin this new chapter in your career, we want to get these dates and times on your calendar. 

    Monday, August 21: 8:00-4:30 (Includes continental breakfast and lunch) HSS 126
    Tuesday, August 22: 8:00-4:30 (Includes continental breakfast and lunch) HSS 126
    Wednesday, August 23: 8:00-4:30 (Does not include breakfast or lunch) Stouffer Auditorium

    The agenda for each day will be posted to the CTE website.  Dress is casual each day.  Attendance is expected.

    An R.S.V.P. is requested by August 16. You may have already completed this as part of the neogov.com onboarding process.

    When you RSVP, you will be asked to provide the following so that we can plan accordingly:

    • Specify dietary restrictions or allergies
    • Specify physical needs or disabilities requiring special arrangements
    • Confirm your attendance at events and meals

    The Center for Teaching Excellence will also offer continued opportunities throughout the academic year for you to meet your colleagues and discuss with them issues and topics related to teaching, scholarship and service. More information about these meetings will be presented at the orientation.

    Check with your department office to see if there is important information and/or documents waiting for you.  You should contact your chair or department representative early in the summer for copies of the syllabi of record for each course you are assigned to teach.  

    Ask your department chair or department secretary/administrative assistant about computer equipment and keys for your use.
