Why We Support IUP

Alumni and friends philanthropically support IUP for many reasons. Some do it out of pride of for their alma mater. Others prefer to think of supporting IUP as the same as an investment in society's future. See what inspired alumni and friends to support IUP, and, if you want to talk to someone about how your gift can help to ensure a brighter future for all of us, contact us today at 855-477-5266 or send an email to iup-giving@iup.edu.

Work Ethic Worthy of Investment

Lorna Milkovich Abernathy ’83 and her husband, Justin, could have invested their money anywhere, but they chose to invest in IUP students, because Lorna believes our students come from hard-working roots.

Their Commitment Inspired Hers

Kristina Taylor-Porter ’06, M’08 and her husband, Rob Porter ’94, are members of the Loyalty Society, which recognizes five consecutive years of giving. They give each year in recognition of the support Kristina received from the Sociology Department faculty during her graduate work.

For the Public Good

When Don Mash ’64 presented the commencement address to IUP graduates, he related a deeply personal story that explained part of the reason he created two scholarship funds. As a retired college president, he also understands the impact investing in higher education can have on our world.
