MCSLE invites the IUP community, on-campus and remote, to share their culture in photos in the #MCSLECultureChallenge. Culture is “the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group.” What does culture look like for you and your identity groups? Show us in your photos!

From Monday, September 28, to Friday, October 2, sharing a photo according to the day's prompt with the hashtag #MCSLECultureChallenge enters you for a chance to win a $10 gift card to the Co-Op, or to have your photo featured on our Instagram. The daily prompts are:

Monday, September 28: Food

  • Whether it's grab-and-go from the dining hall, delicious microwaved fare, or a home-cooked feast, what are you eating? In the caption, tell us how this plays into your culture.

Tuesday, September 29: Ritual

  • Everything in your routine exists for a reason. Think about the things you do every day—saying prayers, your makeup routine, your study schedule, the shows you watch, the music you listen to, your Starbucks order, the clubs you participate in. Show us something in your routine you believe to be related to your culture.

Wednesday, September 30: Home

  • Home can be your house, your state, your country, your dorm, your favorite place, your favorite person, or wherever your heart is. Show us what home means to you in a picture and tell us why in the caption.

Thursday, October 1: Throwback

  • Find a photo from a cultural event you've participated in: holidays, bar/bat mitzvahs, festivals, parades, your favorite event at IUP. Embarrassing childhood photos are encouraged! Tell us why this resonates with your culture.

Friday, October 2: Fun

  • What is part of your culture that's fun? Whether that's gaming, dancing, drag shows, religious services, club meetings, or holidays, show us how people in your culture have fun.

Your Instagram must be public for us to see your submissions. If you are interested in submitting, but cannot post publicly, or if you have any questions, please email Julie Weiner at kxkcc@iup.edu.
