Safety Sciences harness lab HANDS-ON EDUCATION: In our construction lab, you'll learn how scaffolding goes up, ways to avoid falls, and how to respond to an injury if one occurs.

Bringing real-world experience into the classroom

There are more than 20 Safety Sciences faculty, seven of whom are full-time. They bring to the classroom their professional experience in insurance, consulting, construction, manufacturing, government, healthcare, the chemical industry, and more. All faculty have appropriate SHE certifications.

  • Our professors are active in safety sciences practice, research, publishing, and service to the profession.
  • Their focus is on the student. Take our approach to advising, for example. Every student works with an advisor and is required to meet with them every semester before they are permitted to register for classes.  This is to support your progress and ensure you are on the best path to degree completion.
  • Safety Sciences hosts their own departmental career fair each year.  An average of 75 companies come to the Safety Sciences Career Fair each year, and it's here that you find co-ops, internships, or full-time positions.
